Disney Era Power Rangers

That's one of the things that didn't help me enjoy some of the Disney seasons, they turned everything into lasers.

Ninja Stars, Rounds, Missiles, Bullets, you name it.

Not to mention Omega Ranger himself was a "floating ball of light" out of the suit for every episode in the series except the last episode

Not always though. Granted alot of the time they'd cover it in "shiny" or "laser-like" effects, but not everything became lasers. For example, in Operation Overdrive they merely referred to the missile weapons of the "Speed Driver" simply as "rockets." Apparently the trick is just finding the right terminology that suits the footage and possible edits.

That one was simply Disney meddling with the budget. Apparently since Cruger was a Ranger, and a "sixth one," they weren't given enough resources to provide a full time actor for Omega/Sam's actual role, as Disney thought six Rangers was a suitable "quota". This would have been fine, they'd simply try to write out Dekabreak's episodes or footage and shift that potential "focus" to other characters (See Sky taking a part of Tetsu's role in "Reflections"). But due to the high amount of appearances of the character in the source footage, and Bandai's likely insistence to include him in the show, they had no choice but to go for the most budget saving contrivance they could get to make it "plausible." They'd still try and write around him though, leaving Sam with (outside his introductory episodes) no real character focus or emphasis other than "another Ranger to add to the team, who appears in fights, and eventually leaves at the end." Kalish and the other writers are still quite frustrated at how things ended up and wish they could have handled the situation better.

True but as you stated, for the part they tried to make it seem like those weapons were energy beams.

It would have been more plausible if Boom was Omega instead of a ball of light with a cheesy voice actor.

I don't know, I thought the whole ball of light thing was the most creative thing Disney has done with Power Rangers.

Seriously though, I know Disney is often given a lot of flack but despite everything they've done I don't hate them for it. And they have made an effort. After all, I think Time Force and SPD were probably the closest to the original source materials than any of the others.

Time Force was a Saban season by the way and Wild Force is closer to the original source than SPD was.

Ones I liked:

Ninja Storm - Liked the fact it was a deconstruction of the genre that liked to poke fun at itself. Disliked the actors for some villains (those two sisters or whatever)

Dino Thunder - Liked the interesting, serious plot with good writing, hated... Wait, let me get my shield *grabs SUPER-DX-FLAMING-BLOCKER* better... Hated bringing Tommy back. They should've done a different character in the same position as a mentor who had already been fighting Mesogog for a while.

Jungle Fury - Liked RJ, and it was probably Kalish's best series as the plot was like Gekirangers good plot, but had Flat characters instead of badly developed and just plain annoying ones. I also liked that they had a Pizza parlor as part of their masquerade and not a sports company - It'd be much easier to get found out as a sports company what with probably being a focus with the media and such, than "that Pizza parlor down the road". Disliked the excessive explosions, but they did seem a bit less than what I've seen of the other Kalish seasons.

RPM - Not sure why I liked it. Like Go-Onger, it just had some kind of charm. Dislikes? It pretty much went against everything Go-Onger did, as Go-Onger is my favorite Sentai.

So yeah

I don't really watch Power Rangers a lot, like I'd be changing channels until "Hey look its PR. I guess I'll watch that", but I did like watching some Dino Thunder since Tommy was in it and it had dinosaurs for zords again.
