Digimon Data Squad - Talk Up!

GPG: I may be oversensitive, but it seems to me that you're quite sensitive to criticism (or anything resembling a critical comment; such as a slightly negative comparison between the original and the dub) about the dub and jump to its defence a lot, even though there isn't really any bashing going on. Lighten up, because I believe most of us here accept the dub, or even like it. I personally am glad that Savers will have a wider audience thanks to the dub, and I'm waiting for BoA to release their version of the Digivice Burst.

lol, I am sensitive to dub bashing. (Though I know no one has come close to bashing or flaming anything in this thread.) I've had to deal with it a lot over the years being an anime fan that actually enjoys dubs vs the majority of the anime community that does nothing but despise it.

So I try to jump to the defense of dubs when I can because I hate not seeing anyone try and speak for a dub. I don't do it in a serious tone, I just like to try and make sure a different opinion is heard in regards to sub vs dub.

Anywho, will episode 2 re-air on Monday? or will it be episode 3?

Hah, I see. I know with the **** you have to deal; youtube's bad enough, fanboards make it worse. I'm not sure about the situation at With The Will, but I assume it to be rather bad.

I prefer marathons; if I can't have that, I'd prefer daily airings. Having the show air twice a week isn't too bad, but I hope they don't rush the episodes and end up screwing the voice acting or plot. I wonder if the voice actors watched the original episode to get a feel of the type of character they should be portraying.

Wonder if there'll be a new opening theme, or if they'll release this theme in full. I don't like the visuals of the opening (too much action; the original's symbolism was very well done), but the song is good.

Well most voice actors are just hired to do a job. You cant expect them to just watch and try to understand everything before doing it. Most voice actors will just go with the flow of their work place, if their boss doesnt show them footage then they will just read the scripts. Or they will just read the lines while seeing that particular scene for the first time in front of them, without ever seeing the japanese version. Sometimes when you get a job as a Voice Actor, all you get is a brief description and picture of the character you will be reading for. Some companies just don't have the time or the money to put you through "school" for a cartoon or animation that you will eventually move on from.

It's really the writers job to make sure the dialog stays true to the plot and the voice actor just reads from the script. While the voice actor director makes sure that these guys are reading the way that he/she wants them to. It's not always up to the Voice Actor alone.

I think this is good and bad. This is bad for obvious reasons you can assume on your own. It's good because I simply don't like dubs that try too hard to sound like the Japanese version. Japanese dialect does not sound appropriate or normal in English dialect.

Btw, I love You Tube:

I can finally see episode 2.

my god episode 2 was hilarious. ^_^ so many good moments with Marcus and Agumon. Man I don't care what anyone says, I think Marcus' voice is great. All the voices are fantastic. This episode had me loling good. I cant wait to see the next episode. Thomas looks kewl, as does his digipal. Sounds like we got a typical Jack and Sky, good cop bad cop thing going on now. With the loose canon/hot headed partner and the cool headed/serious business partner.

I missed episode 2, so hopefully it'll be on again soon.

I hope they keep the 'Master' bit with Gaomon.

Sadly, no. :disappoin Gaomon did said "Yes, sir! Yes, sir!" Geez, I hate dubbed. :shakefist

Once again, episode 3 was pretty good.

Episode 3 was great. Gaomon's pretty kewl and Marcus and Agumon are still a riot. Not much to babble about though. It was a straight forward episode but I really enjoyed it.

I didnt find anything wrong with it. Sir, Yes Sir fits the style and persona of Thomas and the way Gaomon looks. Master and Sir are ultimately the same, anyway. Gaomon's voice is great, btw

saw the beginning of the 4th episode but had to go to the airport after that. It was really good though. I love the dialog and the writing.

It's all a matter of interpretation. "Master" as it was used in the original was Gaomon's way of showing his partner respect. It's like how martial art students refer to their teachers as "Sensei".

Personally, I prefer Master but this is the dub and they usually do there own thing regardless.
