[Anime] Devil Survivor 2 The Animation

Well, episode 2 was a bit of a departure from the game, compared to episode 1, but not too bad overall. A bit on the slow, talky side, but this is a Megaten title, so not surprising.

Not liking that they're dropping so many spoilers early on, though, but I suppose they don't have the time to do all the FATE ranks for character development, which is some of it. Hotsuin and Anguished One's relationship seems a bit different from the game, but it's been a while since I played the earlier parts, as opposed to endgame.

I love the characters in this series so far. I love how Power looks like he did in Soul Hackers. The main kid is really good. I hope they don't turn him stupid. I also am kinda glad I haven't played the game this is based on yet.

Wow, just watched episode 3, and if the anime doesn't head back uphill pretty soon, I'm dropping it.

Spoilers that we have no reason to know about yet, pointless
character deaths
, changing character introductions which, IMO, affect said characters' characterizations... I could forgive episode 2's filler-esque-ness since it covered some FATE rank stuff, as well as took out some of the pointless random battles to establish peoples' fear of summoners/tamers (I prefer Demon Tamers over Demon Summoners), but 3 was just a bad amalgam of a bunch of different scenes from Day 2, and the stuff with
Fumi
could easily have been moved to another episode, since it doesn't get resolved until later anyway.

Wow if you think it's down hill then, IMO, you are just out of your mind. This series so far is great. By the way.. It is clear you are a fan of the games, and you seem to be hung up on that the anime is not following the games verbatim. If the game is that important to you, maybe the anime is not for you.. Just a thought.

I mean the P4 anime changed some stuff, but I was very happy with what we got from that anime.

Poor Daichi and his shitty demon selections...

Honestly, there is no way the anime can match the game 100% nor should it really otherwise people that played the game would be bored and people that watch the anime first will be bored with the game.

I liked episode 3, sucks that one of the characters dies this early but it works to establish that this will definitely be a different experience or similar one as you can let characters die at certain points in the game as well.

I thought episode 3 gave a shot in the arm that this show needed. Maybe he could have stayed around for longer to make his loss more meaningful, but it's really nice how they aren't just going for a boring perfect ending, but actually using character deaths in the story.

Of course, alternatively,
they might be going with a time loop ending where everyone will die throughout the show, besides the hero who'll achieve the restorer ending. However, the world will be rebuilt, only to go through the same events again. The hero will finally realized that and save everyone and get the triumphant ending in the final episode.

The whole plotline regarding the protagonist having more resources than the other and summoning Byakko seems to be suggesting some kind of timeloop mechanic in the anime's story.
