You can just play Devil Survivor 2 without playing the first one. It's not going to spoil the story of the first game or anything. You got about 4 months.

I'd argue against playing DeSu 2 before DeSu 1, simply for the fact that, like Persona 3 and Persona 4, Suikoden I and Suikoden II, Kingdom Hearts 1 and every other game in the franchise, the basic game system was upgraded and improved to the point where it feels almost painful to go back to the more "primitive" version.

It will depends on if you are playing the original DeSu 1 or the 3DS remake Overclocked, if it is the 3DS remake, go ahead and play DeSu 2 first, because the graphic and sound downgrades between those two are pretty steep. I play overclocked first and while there are many improvements in the sequel the extras that were thrown into the remake match and over shadow it a little.

I did. It was a pretty good start.
As expected, there would be changes made from the game, and it seemed like in P4, the characters will not be fighting themselves and fully depend on the demons, though I'm not really sure if that's the case yet.
Was surprised by how different the musical sense the anime had compared to the game. The songs are good, but I'm hoping to have some rendition of the game's op theme down the line.
lol was really surprised when Hibiki summoned a high level demon instead of using a "starter" demon. Apparently Io got both Ogre and Pixie. I can't help but think that is referencing "Digital Devil Story" a bit, where the demon Akemi summoned, his demon companion basically, was Cerberus.
