[Comic] DCU Talk Up Thread!

It looks promising. But I'm a little annoyed at the use of Death Stroke again…only because it seems like he's being used in EVERYTHING these days.

At least for Batman it makes sense, Deathstroke is kind of the perfect opponent for him. He is almost as smart, just as resourceful, and physically stronger, without getting into Superman tier of strength.

Yeah…and if anyone can take down Raz…someone who's probably seen every form of fighting and weapon in human history it's gonna be someone like Deathstroke.

Maybe it's to make up for his previous lack of presence, barring Teen Titans? Heck, in Teen Titans, they weren't even allowed to call him Deathstroke .

Though something tells me Ra's isn't as dead as the characters believe and is secretly orchestrating everything...

Luthor and Cold joining the Justice League is a surprise, though I can see it as a natural evolution of the events of Forever Evil. Though, considering this is Lex Luthor, I highly doubt his stint as a hero will last... though I am intrigued to see how long Geoff Johns can keep it up.

After everything Ultraman's done, and with Luthor joining, I'm not surprised Superman is gone. I can see a lot of his books dealing with his efforts to repair his image after Forever Evil. But as with Luthor, I can't see Superman staying out of the Justice League for too long.

I am surprised that Flash is off the team as well. I highly doubt it's because of Cold, because Flash doesn't have anywhere near the enmity with Cold that Supes has with Luthor. In fact, I'm sure he'd welcome Cold onto the team. I wonder if his exclusion may also be a result of the actions of his Crime Syndicate counterpart?

Johns has always been talking about Shazam joining the team, so it's good to see it finally happening.

Johns also said at a panel that Hal would be back in the book in 2014, though with how things are looking it'll probably be just guest appearance.

April 2014 solicitations are out.

Don't know if this was announced before, it's the first time I hear of it, but we're apparently getting a new series "Secret Origins" which will give the origin stories for the DC heroes in this post-Flashpoint continuity.

The first ones are Superman, Supergirl, and Nightwing.

I thought they already had the New 52 origins for Superman and Supergirl, but oh well... I am genuinely curious/worried for Nightwings since the DCnU has already manged to over-complicate Jason Todd's and completely screw up Tim Drake's.

Well this bit could go in either thread but makes more sense here seeing how it will have a more immediate effect for DC.

Presumably due DC moving of publishing to the west coast Mike Marts has left the company returning to Marvel. This is a blow for DC editorial seeing how of all the group editors Marts was able to handle the constantly shifting the best and with the least public episodes.

This does rise some questions about the state of DC editorial though since there were rumors that Marts was going to be offered the EIC position as incentive to stay with DC following the move. This may also explain the creative shake-ups in the Batman family titles, some creators may be leaving feeling that who ever takes over for Marts won't be as receptive. Finally this casts more clouds over Batman Eternal, not only do they have to contend with the recent creative shuffling but losing the group editor before issue one even ships. If nothing else it could be interesting to see how DC handles all of this over the next bit.

I can see that hitting Eternal the hardest considering how complex the creative process of it is to begin with. We have four writers working on the same series, and without a good editor to coordinate it, I'm not sure if the series will ultimately work out.

Not that we really needed another Batman book anyways...

Geoff Johns and recent DC hire John Romita Jr. will be o Superman sometime this summer. My guess is Johns is going to explore the fallout of the CSA takeover and possible mistrust the world now has Superman. I think this was always the plan which would explain why out of all CSA Ultraman is a near dead ringer for Superman.

Again I am hopeful that this will be a change of pace for the New52. Superman was presented as the center piece of the New52 but outside Morrison's Action he, at least to me, has been getting pushed to the side. I feel if they are going to right the ship Superman is the place to start.

If nothing else this will at least keep JRJr away from Mark Millar for awhile.

The killed Copperhead. I do remember Geoff Johns saying that he found the female Cooperhead in Arkham Origins interesting, so I wonder if we would see her in the main DC line.

Poor Batman, he got used to pushing the Justice League around all the time, but he can't pull that $hit with this group

I think it's a safe bet that this will happen. It's not like the original Copperhead is an A-list iconic character.

So Batman #28 came out today giving a look into Batman's future and it looks promising. Spoilers obviously follow...

Well it seems that Nightwing-esque female in the concept art that was floating around did indeed turn out to Harper Row. Though in a nice change of pace isn't named Nightwing or Robin, instead going by Bluebird. Honestly I wish they were doing this from the start of the reboot, since the idea of superhero legacies doesn't really exist in this universe. Plus it seems that DC is finally willing to take some chances, trying something new.

Also it seems like Gotham is now a police state so hopefully this is some reaction to Forever Evil, since this a perfect chance to finally have an event book that leaves an impact. You are in a reboot universe I feel it would be crime not to use this to shape your universe.

And finally we have Stephanie show for the first time in years. She is Spoiler again but the suit does have hints of her Batgirl costume which is a nice touch.

Anyway as I said before hopefully we are finally at a turning point for the Nu52. There is a lot of promise in the universe and with these bits here there seems to be hope it may live up to it.
