Cinemassacre's Godzillathon

His thoughts on Final Wars are spot on with mine. I love that movie.

Then you should be very careful when dealing with diehard Godzilla fans . . .

I like GFW a lot, it's a fun movie, but I also recognize it for the mess that it is. I thought it needed some fixing.

Diehard Godzilla fans my ass. Pfft.

Any real Godzilla fan would appreciate what GFW is worth, and how much extensive CGI effects, money, and overal suitamation was put in, as well as the whole new monster revamps, and everything else that was put into this film to make Godzilla's 50th birthday one to remember.

I remember back way when it premered in Japan, I got all excited. A year later it was released in America, I became a Gojiraholic.

If it's one movie that changed my opinion on Godzilla films, it's GFW. Kitamura, as well as everyone else he worked with, made this film exceptionally well. Sure, it didn't follow the prior Godzilla formulas, but in all essence, it was a pretty damn good movie. I think I've watched this film more often than any other Godzilla film.

Yeah, I hear a lot of ranting of this film, but those who rant about it are just pompous elitists that can't accept techno music and martial arts in a Godzilla film.

I'm sure this post offended most, and I honestly don't care. This is just my opinion.

But maaaaaaan, we seriously need another Godzilla film. Another reboot. With another monster. Get the gears spinning again.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Godzilla's 54th birthday November 3rd?

You're not that far off in my opinion Exo. I've always liked Godzilla, but it was Final Wars the rekinled my love for the big lizard.

GFW was the only Millenium movie beside Godzilla 2000 where Godzilla actually wins.thats one of the reasons i love GFW.

It's not just the fans, I'm also talking about the many people who worked on the previous Godzilla films (especially the Millennium Series). They hated the film. (Especially veteran Shinji Higuchi, who panned the film.) Not because it had martial arts or techno music, that has nothing to do with it. (And remember, I liked the martial arts in the film!) It really was sloppily put together and edited, and focused less on the monsters, and more on the humans. (It's like Kitamura just wanted the film to hurry up and end.) And I have to agree. The movie needs some fixing.

Although I like GFW, I wouldn't want Kitamura to do another Godzilla movie again. I appreciate a one-time deal.

But aside from Godzilla's cameo in Always 2, we're not going to see another Godzilla movie for quite a while. Not just because GFW was intended to be the last film for a while, but also because it bombed majorly in Japan. And Godzilla has been in decline for several reasons (one of which is Toho's colossal stubbornness; it is Japan's most conservative studio ever).

This is not intended to change your opinion, but keep this in mind.

And yes, Godzilla turns 54 on November 3.

GFW was the only Millenium movie beside Godzilla 2000 where Godzilla actually wins.thats one of the reasons i love GFW.

That I can agree with!

Incidentally, both G2000 and GFW, in their original Japanese versions, are the only Godzilla films where the title of the films onscreen do not resemble their commercial/licensing versions (on posters, etc.)!
