CDC to Hollywood: Stop with the smoking already!

I don't have a problem with it - smoking is fucking nasty. I think the R rating is probably counter-productive, though it's not like the CDC has any power to mandate that anyway.

Maybe just a 2% fee tacked on to the production cost of the movie if any sympathetic characters in it are smoking. With that fee going toward national health care costs or something. Honestly, the sooner we eliminate tobacco use, the better.

Yeah, but tacking an R rating on any movie that shows people smoking? Nasty habit or not, that's a little extreme.

I can see the warning messages now:

This movie may not be suitable for all ages. It may contain violence, nudity, smoking, and content that some viewers may find offensive

Batman the Animated Series and Digimon Season 1 had smoking in it. Does this mean they should have been moved to 10 and 11 O'clock slots on FX?

It took them HOW MANY YEARS until they finally realized this? Stupid CDC, you're 60+ years too late

It's too damn late for CDC to finally realized this. But the smoking is definitely nasty. It can get you lung cancer, very deadly form of the cancer of all. So, yeah, CDC shouldn't tell them what to do. They can do whatever what they wants to do.

People smoke, just like people have sex, say bad words and shoot other people with guns. The Hollywood film industry is starting to turn into China.

Who cares if someone smokes in a film. I doubt people even notice when a person in a film is smoking I sure don't. It's not like people go "Gee whiz I sure wish I was just like him I should smoke to do so."
