The success has carried over to online, Snyder said, with CN.com earning a huge number of game plays and video streams. Which plays into what Brenda Freeman, chief marketing officer, called the network’s goal of becoming a dominant youth brand that features humor, adventure, fantasy and an authentic, unsanitized experience for its viewers.

Momentum and a changing voice (think adolescent boy) were among the major themes underscored at Cartoon Network's upfront presentation of its 2009-2010 season in NYC yesterday. The network's plans include entering into the reality TV genre, creating a new sports-centric programming block, and introducing 19 new programs/pilots/movies, many of which are live-action, as well as 164 episodes of returning series. In doing so, Cartoon Network stepped out on its evolutionary path to become what it described as a "dominant youth culture brand," that not only understands boys, including boys 6-11, but girls and older kids too, while creating "un-sanitized" "TV for kids, not kids TV". NBA commissioner David Stern, who discussed Cartoon Network's new partnership with the NBA announced earlier in the week, revealed that Boston Celtic Eddie House and his 7-year-old son Jaelen will be the stars of the first project together, the short-form series My Dad's a Pro. So pleased with the NBA's new relationship with the network, Stern quipped to those assembled, "If I were a buyer, I would buy."

It does not say they are dropping any cartoons that article even says that they have returning series. All they are doing is branching out and I can't blame them for it. With just cartoons it doesn't bring in the ratings like live action does, and it's not like they dropping all their cartoons they are just adding live action shows.

****?!

How the hell do they expect to call themselves "Cartoon network" if they don't have any kind of cartoon AT ALL?!

**** like this is why I'm glad I have YTV and Teletoon, despite the fact that I rarely watch them now. :redface2:

Wait wait wait, I thought alot of you guys knew this? Wasn't that the point of the CN Real thread?

Plus besides, I expected this every since the name change. They slowly kill off all the cartoons. I'm the only one who saw this coming? lol
