California Fans

Hi Blade,
Thanks for supplying us with sample tracks of your band. The songs are very lovely. I especially like "Scarborough Faire" from Happy Endings. Tis a mystical tune. That reminds me, one of my friends probably saw your group performing during a Ren Faire. in Yuma, Arizona.

Very possibly! We've only been there the once, though. I haven't heard if we're doing it in 2010 yet, and since it's usually in January, that probably means we aren't. Too bad, too. It was a fun weekend. We all piled in a 15-passenger van and roadtripped.

Scarborough Fair is one of my favorite tracks on that album. Since I joined so late in the process of this cd, I don't actually have any solos on it, but I've got a trio at the end of "Bird Song" where I sing the bottom part.

Yeah, the one that is currently in Irwindale was the first-ever Renaissance Faire. It's changed sites a few times, but it's still the first.

As for the album, I'm on almost all of them... I joined the group while they were doing the recording for it, so it was basically "Ok, now you're in the group, how soon can you get in to record?"

As a consequence, I'm not on the song in French (Je Ne L'ose Dire) or All Creatures Now, which has a really hard alto part. I know them now, of course, but while the rest of them I could do a couple of times in practice and then record with the music in front of me, not so much on those two. :P

i know i've been there once when i was a child cuz i have a few pictures taken from there. but unfortunately, i was too young to even remember. i just wish gettin a job is as easy as joinin a band, lol! i'd love to hear you sing the one in french since you already know it. xD

We hardly ever perform that one, mostly by request only. People don't want to hear songs in French, I guess. *shrug*

But it was actually not that easy to join the band! They had auditions for an alto for over a year before I joined... Don't really know how many women tried out.

haha it's so cool that you guys take requests! if i ever stumble upon you guys someday i'll definitely request that one. xD maybe they saw your resume & were stunned & fascinated with all the experiences you had? & not to mention your beautiful voice of course! hehe.

Heh, actually when they looked at it they were more like "wow, there's a lot of church stuff on here... You do know what kinds of songs we sing, don't you?"

see how easy it was for you! i kinda regret not knowin' how to sing. all of the siblings were choir members growin up 'cept for me.

I'm not a fantastic musican, but I'm competent, and I love sight-reading. So I tend to do well in auditions. :P

Plus, evidently most of the women they had trying out weren't actually altos, they just thought they were. *shrug*

that's the key. you're competent because you love what you do. i've tried doin countless of things before that i ended up hatin. :P

I'm weird. I love it because I don't have to do it. If I had music as a career, I would despise it after a couple of months. Go figure.
