That's where the fun is; it's a lighthearted action-comedy. As soon as Buffy got all responsible and they introduced homosexual demons and people dying and being resurrected and all that it tripped all over itself trying to be "mature" and "dark," it was stupid. It's like the finale of Citizen Kane turning into a big lesbian mud wrestling scene. It doesn't fit and it ruins the original context.
