I think it's not really hated per se, so much as just very few people have gotten to watch it (in part due to a lack of subs, maybe the guys doing Amazon will pick it up next?), and even in Japan it's often overlooked, coming between a powerhouse like V3 and genre-busting Amazon. Just following V3 is a task I don't envy. New Kamen Rider (or Skyrider to the uninitiated) is the other one everybody forgets about, and both of 'em are some of my favorite Tokusatsu shows ever. There's probably a story to that...
I'm kinda hoping that the next couple of Decade episodes might encourage some people to give some of the older stuff a shot (and conversely, the older fans who tune in just for Kurata,etc. might see the new Riders aren't the work of Satan. I wish I were making that up, but it's pretty close to a real quote I once read about Ryuki. Oh, you crazy fandom.) Though I dunno, has Decade gotten anyone interested in going back to watch Kuuga, etc.?

Kuuga is one show in particular that Decade has made me want to check out. I've not seen a lot of Rider shows prior to Faiz, because that was my first Rider series (had HK DVDs forced on me by a friend). Decade made me curious about Ryuki so I've been watching that, and I've also been greatly enjoying Amazon (who has always been one of my favorite Shouwa era Riders because of the suit design) thanks to HnT.
Decade has gotten me on this pretty severe Rider kick (no pun intended...I swear), so I'm hunting down lots of older Rider series I've not seen, because I've seen all the Heisei stuff except Kuuga and Agito. The only thing that puts me off a bit, though, is general lack of subs for a lot of them. I've got a fair amount of Japanese education under my belt and can still watch and enjoy and understand some parts of raw series, but it is nice to have good subtitles.
Anyway. Back on topic. As for X, I can't say since I've not seen it. However, like most Rider series I've not seen I'd like to at least give it a watch.
