Benta Confirms Power Rangers Animated In "Negotiation"

Besides confirming that the JF cast have all been selected and preparing to commence filming, Benta also indicates that Disney will be axing the show in 2009 and replacing it with the long-rumoured animated series that may go back to MMPR.

Do you guys thing it might be a contract thing with Toei? Also if they do Power Ranger in anime. Couldn't Toei take thier sentai footage and offer it to another company. I mean the only thing they have to change is the name Power Rangers since Disney owns that.

I'm not saying I know anything, but... from... what I might have heard, the reason is because the show was getting more expensive to do than Disney's willing to pay. They moved to New Zealand because it was cheaper and affordable.

But because of this or that, it's no longer cheap to shoot in New Zealand and fast approaching more expensive.

Soooo.... to keep the franchise going, they're switching to animated, but nope.... Toei's not exactally happy about it.

I dunno. I think I said this once before, but an animated series has some potential. I mean, with an animated series, they would have the freedom to use all sorts of characters from past or present, as well as old mecha, without having to worry about footage. They could bring back all of the old rangers and villains and not worry about hiring back the old actors and what have you.

Still, half the charm of "Tokusatsu Hero" programming is that it's live action. As it is now, Power Rangers is currently one of a kind in the States. I would hate to see it become just another cartoon.

Well, I say this if went to anime. I got a feeling Sentai footage would find it's way on another network say as cartoon network with Dragon Knight. I know like rangerboard said Power Ranger name is important,but if you put it under a different name with the costumes and such. I think the Live Action show without Power Ranger name would out draw the anime. lol
