Been into tokusatsu for 3 days, help me

Hi guys, my name's demonic_bunny, and I'm an 18 nerd just outta high school. I'm a wannabe comic artist / cartoonist, and not only have I just discovered this site, but I've just recently gotten seriously into Tokusatsu. There TONS of stuff out there, and I've only seen a few things so far, mostly Kamen Rider stuff, which I'm slowly falling in love with. I watched all of Kabuto (which I have mixed feelings on), and I'm up to episode 10 in Kamen Rider Black (awesome), and I'm just starting to get into Den-O (that shows scares me..a lot...)

Anyways, I don't want to limit myself to just Kamen Rider, I'm open to literally anything, even Power Rangers, if its good, I just really am enjoying Tokusatsu as a whole and want to experience as much of it as possible.

So, my question is, what do I NEED to see? Whats like, the absolute MUST SEE Kamen Rider? MUST SEE Sentai? MUST SEE Ultraman? Like I said, anything thats good (and subbed, sadly. Does anyone know a site that teaches japanese for dummies?) I'll try out.

OK, just to give you a quick background, as a kid, I used to watch the orgininal Ultraman with my dad and loved it. I also was (and still am) an avid Godzilla fan, and am proud to say I've seen every Godzilla movie. I also watched a little bit of MMPN (of course, what child of the 90's didn't?). However, other then keeping up with Godzilla, my relationship with Tokusatsu prety much ended there...until now...I recently got a craving to watch some Ultraman again, and, using the unlimited powers of the internet, started researching some of the new Ultraman stuff thats come out. That quest led me eventually (somehow) to Kamen Rider, and that pretty much brings me to where I am now.

So yea, please, anything thats really good, let me know, I wanna check anything and everything out. I hope to also continue to post here at HJU, seems like a great place you got here.

-Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger. It is awesome so far.
-Ninpuu Sentai Hurricanger
-Ninja Sentai Kakuranger (So far, I've seen the first two episodes and I enjoyed it a lot)
-Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger (Awesome)

Kamen Rider

-Kamen Rider Kabuto
-Kamen Rider Agito
-Kamen Rider 555
-Kamen Rider Blade

You need to watch Kamen Rider The First. That movie rocked. Also, this movie has been lisenced by Media-Blasters. You will need to order it online.

Thanks for the rather extensive list. I tried tracking down some Sentai yesterday but am having a hard time finding fansubs. Though now I got specific entries in the series to look for. Again, thanks for the help.

Check out veoh, it's a lot better than youtube plus it'll let you download the videos. So far I think almost all of TV Nihon's fansubs have been put up there. Plus there are many shows up there in raw Japanese.

You can check the stuff I've uploaded there, like Guyferd (an awesome show)), link to my veoh page is in my sig. I haven't put any complete shows up yet, I'm working on it. They are all raw too, but they can still be appreciated. You can also find endokoji's veoh account in my friends list and he has some good shows he's uploading. He has most of Kamen Rider Agito, subbed, a highly recommended show as well as one of my favorites. Also he has another of my favorites complete and subbed, Kamen Tenshi Rosetta (Rosetta is for people who like the cheesy stuff. It's a funny show but has a nice story, and some beautiful visuals, especially the hero costumes, for a show from 1998).

BTW, some shows on veoh have been tagged as 18+. In order to see those you have to create an account and disable the family filters. You have to create an account anyway in order to download, but it's worth it.

I'm not surprised no one'smentioned Kamen Rider Hibiki yet. But I can recommend this series just remember not to look at it as if it's a typical Kamen Rider show.

I'll name a toku that none of these hardcore toku fans would dare mention:

Madan Senki Ryukendo.

It's one of the very rare toku shows that doesn't take itself seriously, yet manages to be pretty damn good when not compared to Sentai or Kamen Rider. Do check out the direct download thread I'm putting together for this show. You won't regret it.
