Hey, Hulk 2003 was pretty cool.I'll rephrase.
Hulk in any movie = Fail.
Three out of five's not badSpider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Blade, X-Men, X-Men 2, Iron Man.
That's a decent track record.
I'll rephrase.
Hulk in any movie = Fail.
You didn't like The Incredible Hulk? Didn't think anyone would dislike the movie
I'm shocked. With your love of the big beefcake, I'm surprised Hulk isn't one of your favorites. Any reason?
Also, on Ant-Man: Hank Pym is bar-none one of the most horribly utilized characters in the Marvel universe. The height of his character was wife-beating, and he only hit her once in a panel back in the day. Past that, his defining trait is the fact that he's an utter failure. No one has ever made him truly click (except marginally in his asshole Yellowjacket persona) and as such, he's bounced around from characterization to characterization.
So while I'm sad to miss out on what a fresh pair of eye could do on the character, I can't say I'm sad to see him go.
Edit: As for the movie itself, I'll say that while the Big Three are definitely the most important and iconic Avengers, doing a movie with just the Big Three is like doing an X-Men movie with just Scott, Jean, and Logan. It doesn't make sense.
You've never read Steve Englehart's West Coast Avengers, have you? One major subplot was about Hank getting past the wife-beating incident and reinventing himself in a way that actually works, as Dr. Pym, Scientific Adventurer. I always thought that was his best identity, and Englehart actually knew how to utilize his character. Unfortunately, no writer since has bothered to write him well.
For once I agree with KingRanger. Cap Thor and Iron Man are considered the big three founding members of the Avengers, everyone else are just revolving door members IMO. Plus this isn't the comic book, so its even possible that SHIELD will found the Avengers this time around, similar to the Ultimates.
**** HULK.
The Incredible Hulk = :castlerock:
