Has anyone seen this film & would recommend it? I just heard about it today, & looks to be something good for my enjoyment to see. I just want to hear your opinions on it, before I decide to buy it.

I haven't seen it myself, but I know it was one of the three films made by ex-Shaw Brothers fight choreographer Tang Chia, so obviously the reason to see it would be the fights. Personally though, I don't dig a lot of the Shaw Bros. style choreography as it was at times too slow and clunky. Taiwan was where it was at during the early 80's if you ask me. If you're looking for a good movie about the Shaolin temple, I'd recommend Shaolin Temple (duh) and Shaolin Temple 3 (Martial Arts of Shaolin), Shaolin Master Killer (36th Chamber Shaolin), Shaolin vs. Lama (my favorite), Shaolin Temple Strikes Back, Buddhist Fist, and War of the Shaolin Temple.
Here's a taste of Shaolin vs. Lama's insane finale:

Insane indeed.

Out all those, I've heard of Buddhist Fist before & the director Woo-ping Yuen (Which I heard good things about). I think I'll check that out first, before I do Shaolin vs. Lama, since I heard about that film first. Thanks for the help, Bolt. Quick question though, is Woo-ping Yuen really a great director delivering solid martial arts films? Like I said before, I heard good things about him & like to know more about his films.

Definitely. Wo-Ping is regarded as one of the best martial arts directors in action film history, along with guys like Lau Kar Leung, Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, and Ridley Tsui. The reason his films are so great is that not only does he have a very distinguished, complex-yet-fluid style of choreographing fights, he's also got an impeccable eye for shooting action scenes and making them fit in the contexts of individual films. I'm sure you've seen some of his more popular works like The Matrix, Crouching Tiger, Kill Bill, etc., but it would certainly be worth it to check out some of his older and more highly regarded HK films as well.

Also & I dunno if this true or not, is he really doing a film based on a Marvel character called Shang-Chi as his next project?

I've heard that, but as far as I know he's not been confirmed. Probably just names being tossed at this point. Seems like a neat idea if they could do it right, but I'd still probably rather see an Iron Fist movie. :buttrock:
