I think my favorite black actor in all of PR was Keith Robinson. Every time he was in a scene, he stole the show IMO.

VERY much agreed! He was the best part about Lightspeed hands down. That guy cracked me up.

Yeah, that joke about how he can't get a date with Fairweather was hilarious. Then it became his sole personality trait. Then they did it every episode. Then they ruined it.

I like that.. and how he was a cocky Sky Cowboy pilot and that he could be a hero when the chips were down and also in the end ended up marrying Ms. Fairweather.

Joel was awesome.

Series would have been a LOT better if he was the Red.

I think anyone in that show would have been a better Red. Red was so boring in Lightspeed.

I dunno, when he was cowering in the corner when he was trapped in the Aqua base I didn't get that impression at all.

I liked MANTIS when I was a kid. Or recess, I used to try to throw pine needles at a bully. Didn't work.

As for the Avatar: Last Air Bender, I always looked at it like this:

Water Tribe: Inuit/Indigenous based
Earth Tribe: Indian/Middle Eastern based
Fire Tribe: Far Eastern/Asian based
Air Tribe: White kid.

Yes, the animation is "based" on anime/manga styles used in japan, but the fire tribe clearly has "asian style" eyes.

I liked the show when it was on, for the most part. Wasn't my favorite show, but it was decent. Until the alien dudes with the business suits and creepy purple light came, anyway. I still don't know what the heck was up with those guys. :sly:

I remember the advertisement but never saw the show.

Strikes me as ironic that the star went on to become Martian Manhunter.

I remember looking the actor up and going "wait, that guy was the MANTIS??"

I think anyone in that show would have been a better Red. Red was so boring in Lightspeed.

I much prefered Ryan and Joel to any of the rest of the Lighspeed Rangers. Carter was very bland. And the implied romance between him and Dana seemed forced to me. Not to mention slightly creepy, if you go by the fact that their Sentai counterparts were siblings...

For the thread, no I can't recall that. There was another movie it almost reminded me of though.

By that logic, Mystic Force's Madison/Nick should be equally as creepy. Never saw it that way even after Magiranger. Didn't felt much of a romance between them either (Carter/Dana)

Carter was slightly dull but good overall. Trained his ass more than the rest to be a hero, was reliable, and willing to sacrifice himself in the end. In comparison, Joel was pussy-hungry and Ryan, though noble, spent time in the desert being a worry for Dana.
