Anyone noticed Sun Vulcan blatant sexism?

Seing a woman act overly marcho like Akiko is the same as seeing a man act overly feminine. It is not natural. Men and women can always meet on the middle and have some traits from each other, but going to the max just seems ackward. This has absolutely nothing to do with sexism. It is just that most girls don't WANT to act like a man, and most men don't WANT to act like a girl.
Making them do so is just silly.

I have the same problem when I watch a Hollywood movie where they almost give the female lead a super-human strenght and makes her an expert in all martial arts so that she can kick a guy around.
I have seen girls fight before, and they do just fine with normal fist fighting. Why the need to make them uber-strong?

I have always liked how most Ultraman series handle their female characters. Especially in the heisei era, they never have to act super-cute or super-strong. They are on the exact same level as the men. Just look at Tiga and Nexus.

You are basing this on very outdated, male chauvinist stereotypes of what is "masculine" and "feminine." Real life isn't so clear-cut. Akiko is not stereotypically masculine anyway - she's giggly, ditzy, wears a lot of short skirts etc. and eventually hooks up with Terui.

It's compensation for the days where female characters in movies were almost all damsel-in-distress types who got tied to train tracks and stuff

Six (Tiga, Dyna, Gaia, Cosmos, Nexus, Mebius) and some of the movies. I agree that they had a pretty balanced treatment of female characters fighting-wise, but there's still this underlying idea that a woman's life should revolve around her family/boyfriend and that female strength is an emotional, intangible thing rather than physical

And what would say if a male character was written to be in this sort of "emotional strength is on par with physical" character? I certainly don't believe that's a lie and I think a decently written show can convey the message well enough. A character needs their own strong emotional convictions to be able to do the right thing or just follow through to their goals. I often think you're just looking for things in tokusatsu that you aren't going to find. Most series are basically going to go as deep as telling little kids that they should treat others fairly and have an open view on the world and...that's basically it. When the story goes deeper, it's often for its own dramatics that won't involve all these social issues.

You know I now all the stuff you say is just your opinion, but come on give me a break. You sound like one of those people that they make fun of on say simpsons or family guy or south park for just taking things to a stupid extreme.
