I feel like Shazam's history and lore have taken some pretty wild turns over the years, and it seems like the writers keep layering on new elements. With the recent issues and even the movie from 2023, I'm curious if anyone else has felt entirely overwhelmed by it all?
I mean, back in the day, it was pretty straightforward: a kid says a magic word and turns into a superhero. But now there's the whole aspect of the Marvel Family, the connection to various mythologies, and even the interplay with characters like Black Adam and the other gods. What's the deal with all the new characters that keep popping up?
I just finished reading "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" and while I enjoyed it, some of the plot points felt messy, like they were trying to throw everything at the wall to see what sticks.
Am I alone in this? How are you all feeling about the evolution of Shazam's character and story? Is it still "Captain Marvel" to you, or has the name change affected the way you view the series? Let's discuss!
