I've seen the Asterix & Cleopatra movie not too long ago and enjoyed it! I've also been aware of the comics for years, and also wanted to see the movies.

Asterix, IMHO, is sort of like a Belgian Viking version of Popeye!

Dude! totally! I was a HUGE Franco-Belgian comic reader as a kid. My dad owned all by two Asterix albums.

Asterix, Lucky Luke, Tintin, Gaston Lagaffe, Spirou, the Smurfs, Scrameustache, the Blue Tunics, Clifton, Leonardo, and a bunch of others.

I got Asterix & Cloepatra on an old tape, Asterix in Britain and Caesar's Suprise on DVD and the live action Mission Cleopatra movie. That movie rules.

That bard's english name was Cacofonix. I suddenly brought this topic up because I got a craving for a DVD copy of Les Douze Traveaux D' Asterix... GREAT movie.

Most of the films were true-to-the-books, they would sometimes "merge" two books together to tell a longer story.

I've seen the movies as well, they were broadcast on local tv a long time ago. Love them, totally different from any other cartoon or anime. :thumbs:
