Any news on Ultraman?

Is there a Ultraman series each year? Sorry if I seem out of the loop on Ultraman, I never got into the show.

What groups sub Ultraman anyways?

Depends on what groups are interested.

There isn't one every year, a few shows will air now and then before taking a hiatus. The last set of Ultraman shows ran from 2005~2007 and had Ultraman Nexus, Max, and Mebius. There have been specials and stuff since then, Mebius had two direct to DVD episodes released a year after it finished and there was also a team up movie last year. Aside from that, there are the Ultra Galaxy series, they don't focus on any of the Ultraman characters, but they take place within the universe of (I think) the original timeline. It had two series that each ran 13 episodes.

According to Brad Warner, who recently left Tsuburaya Productions, Tsuburaya/TYO is at work on a new Ultraman movie (and maybe a series) for the US.

That is the most recent and only news we know of, and I don't know when we'll hear anything further. They seem to be keeping the project hush-hush.

Don't forget Ultraseven X.

Ah. Tsuburaya keeping it all secretive. I like it.

A US Ultra flick? Interesting.

Back in 1980, the late Noboru Tsuburaya wanted to produce an Ultraman movie in the US, called Ultraman: The Jupiter Effect, but the project fell through. The writer was Don Glut (a veteran writer, and the King of Fanfilmmakers), the director would have been Jeff Segal, and the villain was called Drax.

Brad said that, since the new management at Tsuburaya is even more interested in the US market than the previous one, they may really go through with making a US film (albeit something different from Jupiter Effect). Looks like Noboru may finally get his wish!

It could very well be an all-new Ultraman, ala Ultraman USA!
