Digimon > Pokemon.

Digimon Season 1-3 > Season 4
agreed about Digi>Poke. you wouldent believe how hard it is to get people to see that. i tell them about how great digimon's story and characters are far superior and all i get in return are "Pika Pika" "the TCG is teh awsomest". :nono:

as for season 4, while it didnt compare to 1 or 3 i think it beat 2 and was a fairly cool concept. Kaiju Sentai DigiRanger :anime: it wasn't a bad season but definately woulda worked better as a toku show.

A board I Smod at happens to be a Pokemon one and I flaunt it around that I think Digimon has and always will be better the Pokemon XD

Digiranger...Damn, that'd be a cool kids show XD

Digital Spirit HENSHIN! XD

I agree, Digi (Season 1 at least, never saw 3 or 4) PWNS Pokemon for plot depth, characterization, and motivation.

I mean, 'I want to be the best' can't compete with 'I want to get the hell HOME and stop from being KILLED thanks a lot'.

And I agree that Digi. Frontier would kick more ass as a toku. Digimon in general would make for a cool toku, though, with good CGI.

Yeah, but in that 30 years, how many Sentai series have actually been good?

A number of them! And they didn't rely on telling the same old kaizo ningen number for most of the series!

Maskman was also cut short by five episodes wasn't it?

Maskman had 51 episodes, and I doubt it was planned to go any further than the norm. I don't even count the 48 or 49 episode series as "being cancelled," but just ending on a shorter run -- it's the ones that are in the 20s or 30s that get cancelled. You might be thinking of that other '87 tokusatsu, Metalder. Got canned for lack of ratings and being overbudget! Metalder was ambitious...50 main villains.

So cards are kiddy? So, I suppose a magical trapeze that floats from no where isn't? Or that little colored disk aren't either?

Don't get me started. Magiranger's obnoxious. A disgrace to sentai.

Yeah, because the "3~5 people, aided by some mentor/helper/thing, who can change into different-colored but usually similar-looking suits, get a giant robot (or two, or three, or four...) and fight villains both cool and tacky" can never, ever get repetetive!

Don't get me wrong, I think Sentai's cool, and yes, it's the only franchise that's kept going strong all these years. But I've never gotten into it like Rider, in part because I'm just more of a one-hero guy (with occasional guest heroes). And they all still look the same to me, dammit!

Bah, that's superficial. If you get into the actual stories of various sentai, they're different shows. There's nothing similar, story wise, between Flashman and Jetman, for one. Or Kakuranger and GoGoFive. The stories of a majority of the Kamen Riders have been a little too damn close to each other. The names are changed, that's about it. Amazon was really the only (old) one that tried to be different -- while he got fired, I liked him for being different.

We've had sentai heroes who are military, some who are high school, some who were Earth people raised on other planets, some who were cops. They each had a different background to their powers and a different personality. Rider has always been the grumpy biker dude who gets captured by Neo-Nazis (or people under their employment) and escapes just before the lobotomy to make him their soldier. I think what hurt Rider was having Shocker constantly upgrade and be the enemy for each new series.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Riders, and I'll defend him before defending any wussy Ultraman, but I think sentai has always offered more than he or an Ultra or a metal hero ever did. Too bad sentai's been a joke of itself, lately...it's hard to defend these new sitcom-type sentais.

I cried when Gai died. He was so much hotter than that red guy. He played the sax, dammit! The red guy was just some soldierboy who flew planes and ****. How common.

Funny I laughed. And these sentai stars need to put on some muscles like Gao black. they look puny. cept the chicks and the fat actors. over 20 and look like twinks....lmao.
