Differences(?) Review 7 - Episode 8
A bit late, things over the holiday weekend were...hectic. I almost forgot about the new Persona 4, so yeah.
Episode 8 - We've Lost Something Important Again
[hide]-So they ARE going to touch the camping trip...well...let's see how well this goes, considering the entire trip in the game was mostly dialogue and choices. I bet that fat girl's gonna be in it...
-I like the kid's "Day before the camping trip" cut in, as well as Kuma's little quips every now and then. Just so he won't be forgotten. lol
-So I went on YouTube to confirm, but I remember that when preparing to make the curry. Then I noticed something: in the game, discussion about the trip takes place at school, followed by Yuu's rubber band trick, and the next day is preparing for the curry. I guess the anime directors decided to cut the day off to save on time.
-They also cut off the "****" the girls were picking up...if you're new to the anime, you'll never know the ingredients they blurt to make the curry of death. I.E., they were gonna get flour and had to decide between all-purpose and whole wheat, and because Yukiko said it was healthy...whole wheat it was. And kimchi, and black and white ground pepper, and chili peppers, god that curry sounds scary...
-Fast-forward: Oh, looks like they did. Shoot, I was prepared and everything...well, I'm using Commie's subs because Hulu was being all, "You gotta sign in to watch our mature ****." Seriously, Persona 4 if not that mature. So I can't exactly say what they said about the ingredients. In Commie's, they said cornstarch to thinken (in the dub game, it was potato starch), then it was strong/weak flour (all-purpose or wheat, as mentioned), and they go with "strong" for the sake of the boys. Yeah, I think Commie fucked up and thought something else for "kimchi". I wouldn't blame them, it sounds like "kimochi", which is totally something different. **** it, I'm skipping. Oh, they were gonna go with coffee milk in the anime, but in the game, it was "mint" chocolate, then switched to mocha.
-Finally, a difference! Fat girl Ohtani has her own, awesome, curry in the game, she ends up eating theirs in the anime, actually liking "Mystery Food X".
-Oh wow, they're putting Naoki's Hanged Man social link now? That, I wasn't expecting. And, apparently, he's a friend of Kanji. Who knew.
-That Aika girl is convenient. I'd like someone like her as a friend. In the game, they poor kids, save Kanji, end up not eating because of Chie and Yukiko. Aika saves the day, I guess. AND Naoki's been included in this little shtick. Hunh, I was wondering how the Hanged Man Social Link would go, but this is surprising. Kill two birds with one stone, I guess.
-Yet again, they combine another scene with the current one; they're practically extending the camping trip by combining the group's discussion time about Kanji's incident. Here, they learn that it's those seen on TV that become the next victims.
-I love Yukiko's little murderous intent and subtle cold nature. She's becoming a fan favorite of mine now.
-This was a good episode. I like it more than the Kanji episodes...actually, anything with Kanji seems to be fucking hilarious.
These cut-ins are using Commie's subs, so the wording might be different if you're used to the Hulu/Anime Nation subs

I really have to ask that any of you using fansubs for this series.. Please stop. It has a legit stream, and IMO if you care for this show you should support legal ways to watch it.

Kinda had no choice. I was under a time constraint, and having to sign up for Hulu wasn't something I'd do when I'm busy. If they're gonna make me sign up for future episodes of Persona 4, fine, I'll do it. But I was in kind of in a hurry.

Yeah I understand. Just give signing up a try. I believe persona 4 is on the free side of Hulu. I just really want to make sure companies know we support persona and this anime in general.

If that's a mistake, then the Hulu subs made it too. It was cornstarch and strong/weak flour there as well.
I still don't get why that one episode was flagged for mature audiences only. It's okay to show dead people hanging from rooftops, but swimsuits are crossing the line?
