Differences Review 2 - Episode 3
Episode 3 - I thought we were friends
[hide]-A little tidbit, but back in the game, you chat with Yukiko a bit on the way home from school. The manga also stays true to that, but it seems that it's been omitted from the anime. I don't remember if what was talked about was given the visual form of how Yukiko and Chie met (I think that's what the conversation with Yukiko was about) shown in this episode, but that conversation takes place after Yosuke's dungeon. I don't remember very well what the game's content of the thing is, but this gives me enough incentive to replay my game. (I missed the Death Social Link, anyway.) How Chie and Yukiko met in the manga, however, was shown during Chie's Shadow battle at the beginning of Chapter 9 (I don't think this scene was shown in the game, so it's cute to have this in the anime).
-The anime stays true to the game's Junes being crowded, and you/Yuu have/has to beckon Kuma (wanted to call him Teddy, buuut...) to talk to him through the TV, getting bit in the process. In the manga, the same thing applies. However, they show what happens on the otherside, where Kuma sees the hand and is hypnotically entranced by it (his pupils gets swirly while he drools).
I really find this funny...
-Seriously, Yuu's lines in this episode are funny. "It makes me wanna cry..." and "I wish I taped it..." I nearly shat myself watching this episode...
-THEY KEPT IT!! THEY KEPT THE WEAPON SCENE!! OMG, YOU FUCKING NOOB HANAMURA!! The weapon scene was omitted in the manga, but the police scene is still there, on that Sunday weekend. A big difference, however, is going to the TV world: the "gang" went in with their weekend clothes on, as opposed to their school uniforms as always.
-It looks like weapons are really omitted from the anime. I THINK the manga omitted the use of weapons too.
-Unlike the manga, though, the anime seems to utilize both the use of All-Out Attacks and Change Persona. All-Out Attack cut-in sequence is now altered to allow animation and weekend clothing. I will be adding a section after each episode review for each Personae Yuu Changes.
-The game and manga never touched this, but anime shows that the dog that Yukiko found became Chie's. IT'S A SAINT BERNARD! I LOVE THOSE FUCKING BEASTS!!
Like episodes 1 and 2, this anime doesn't disappoint. It distincts itself from both the game and the manga by taking stuff away or adding them into the series, such as little anime-exclusive tidbits (the dog and the weekend TV session) and removed mechanics (weapons). Fail-amura's little added expression with the weapon scene really got me though. Almost pissed myself when he tried to look like a killer. C'mon, Dumb-suke...c'mon...

Anything you guys wanna throw in, go ahead. I mighta missed something. But just to let you know, these difference reviews that I'm writing aren't made to glorify a certain medium, but to expand on some little trivia that's shown on one medium, but not on the others. If you've played the game and are watching the anime, read the manga, too (if you can stand reading manga, anyway).
