You...haven't been following the economic news lately, have you?

I have some. I know what you're talking about. I am a liiiittle bit confused tho. While I don't know much about it, when I think of the depression I think of people just... poor and destroyed. Looking to my left and right, all my chaps seem just fine.

I just don't see the immediate affects other than myself now taking the bus lately because gas prices are so fugged.

Guess we'll have to sit and see how history turns out.

It is a well known fact that we are currently having problems with the economy in terms of rise in prices not only in gas, but well as many other things like food and etc. Having it be called the second great depression? Mmmmm....I do not believe that it really justified to be label as such. From my perspective the ones that know this true meaning long before this problem in the economy uprised is the homeless.

Having my mother gone through bankruptcy and I making several bad choices in the past, managed to pull through. Even one of my relatives had lost their home, but now they moved into an apartment and doing quite well. Like a previous post that we are unbalance at the moment, but given time and the choices that we make, it will even out.

2nd depression? We know not then those who are homeless and without a job in the US.

What we absolutely don't need to do is have our government trip over it's own ass trying to pass this absolutely rotten bailout package that Paulson is desperately trying to push. Paulson has a lot invested in this bailout - he as a lot to lose if these companies lose their shirts, and not just his reputation. Your average every day citizen, however, would benefit much more from a ground-up solution to the problem, rather than a top-down bailout that benefits the companies and asshat CEOs that have been fucking over their stakeholders for the last decade.

I really want Congress to reject the Paulson/Bernake/Bush proposal and take their time to find a solid solution. In the meantime, a few companies will go under, a lot of rich people will lose a lot of money, but guess what - the market will correct itself. This sure as hell won't be the 2nd Great Depression. At least not this year. :170:
