Some new features are being added into the mix for DOOM with a new free update. Bethesda Softworks has officially revealed today some new details on DOOM’s next update. Free Update 3 for the game arrives later this month. According to Bethesda, it will include Deathmatch and Private Matches. You can also check out a new teaser for the upcoming update with some new gameplay footage in the player below.
Deathmatch is a new free-for-all multiplayer gameplay mode. The new Private Matches enables players and their friends to create some private multiplayer matches where they can select maps and various modes. The settings can also be adjusted such as the time limit, score limit, or turning demons and power weapons off or on.
Additionally, the new features will be shown during a special upcoming gameplay livestream on Tuesday, September 13 at 2:00 pm EST on twitch.tv/xbox. The livestream will feature id Software’s Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin.
These sound like some welcome additions to the overall 2016 DOOM gameplay experience. Granted, one wonders why things such as Deathmatch and Private Matches weren’t available for the game at launch, but it’s nice that they’ve been added now. Better late than never.
Doom is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
