Destiny Beta Is Open To Everyone
Good news for everyone who has been unable to participate so far – the Destiny Beta is open to everyone now; no code or pre-order required. You can download the beta on PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 right now and get involved as long as you have PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold.
Up until now, the beta had been closed and required a pre-order code to access. Originally launched on the PS4 and PS3 on July 17, with Xbox One and Xbox 360 players joining the party on July 22, the beta is now open to anyone who wants to give it a try.
Even if you’re not typically a FPS or MMO fan, Destiny is well worth a look. Built upon solid foundations and developed by Bungie, the team behind the original Halo games, Destiny has plenty to offer in solo, co-operative and competitive multiplayer modes.
The beta, for anyone unfamiliar with it so far, allows access to four single player story missions, three unique character classes, a co-operative strike mission and a competitive multiplayer mode. There’s an eight level cap, but this does allow for some decent upgrading and messing around with different armors and weapons. You can also freely create new characters in each of the classes, allowing experimentation ahead of the full game.
There are only a few days left for the beta to run, so if you’re interested jump in now while you still can to get a feel for the gameplay ahead of the games September 9 release date. Bungie has teased a special in-game event for players of the beta, due to commence tomorrow (Saturday July 26) that will offer a beta-exclusive reward.
There’s no news yet on whether Destiny will be coming to the PC; rumors have continued to rumble on, but publisher Activision nor developer Bungie are willing to say either way. Given that Activision publish the Call of Duty games and also the Skylanders series, and both of those are available on pretty much every gaming platform humanly possible, it’s likely that Destiny will eventually make the jump to PC in the near future.
