♦ She Just Needed to Meet a Handsome Man

In “Crushology 101”, Ban Hee-jin, nicknamed Bunny, is a talented sculpture student at a university. But let’s go back to her teenage years, when she was very impressionable. One of her teachers in high school was incredibly handsome. However, he left that job and moved elsewhere. She cried and begged, insisting that her parents had to move to where her teacher would be living. But then, a handsome guy moved into the neighborhood. She immediately forgot about her teacher. Whew! Her parents were so relieved.

Now she’s attending university and studying sculpture. This guy followed her everywhere, begging for her to date him. He wasn’t attractive, but she finally gave in, and they started going steady. Later o,n she found out that he just wanted to sleep with her. Not only did she find out, but almost everyone on the campus found out he was a jerk. It was very humiliating. That was when she decided that moving forward, she would only date good-looking guys. But she didn’t expect to meet handsome guys so quickly. Ban Hee-jin met four irresistibly charming and handsome guys. I mean … can a girl be that lucky? Or … confused?

MEET the Four

  1. Cha Ji-Won: Ji-Won is new on campus. He came across one of Bunny’s sculptures and was very impressed. He asked a young lady for directions to the library. The lady turned out to be Ban Hee-jin. Incredible! She had already met an extremely handsome man. But that wasn’t the reason she helped him. He was a new student who didn’t know his way around. It was only right to offer her assistance. They hit it off right away. Later on, Bunny found out that he was a chaebol heir. But the differences in status did not matter to him. Ji-Won genuinely wanted them to be friends, and maybe their relationship could grow.
  2. Hwang Jae-Yeol: Jae-Yeol is the respected class representative of the visual design department. He aspires to be an art director. When they first met each other, their encounter was an unfortunate event. She accidentally broke his $2,000 tablet. He was also very handsome. Jae-Yeol had the kind of face she would love to sculpt. Bunny met him on the same day she met Ji-Won. Meeting two hot guys on the same day? What are the odds? But Bunny is not sure how their relationship will develop. He’s really mad about her breaking his tablet.
  3. Jo A-Rang: Bunny needed to find a part-time job to earn the money to pay for Jae-Yeol’s tablet. They were hiring for an exhibition and she went to apply for the job. That’s how she met A-Rang. Incredible! A third handsome guy?! A-Rang asked if it a OK for him to take photographs at the exhibit. That’s how the conversation started, but before she knew it, Bunny had agreed to meet him at a coffee shop after work. A-Rang was warmhearted, altruistic, and his gentle, sincere nature made her feel comforted.
  4. Jin Hyun-O: Hyun-O is an athlete from the physical education department. Though he’s focused on sports, his unexpected romantic awakening for Bunny adds depth to his character.

Each handsome guy starts vying for her heart. As Bunny navigates this whirlwind, she must confront her insecurities. After all, she was humiliated by an ugly guy. Who’s to say a handsome guy won’t do the same to her? Bunny has to learn for herself what love truly means.

Viewership and Rating:

My personal rating is the same as the Viki viewers.

IF you enjoy university settings or campus life, charming characters, a predictable plot that is a lighthearted, feel-good, and romantic K-drama with heaping servings of the typical K-drama tropes, you will agree with the Viki viewers. IF NOT … at least give credit for the drama helping the up-and-coming K-drama actors and actresses build their résumé.

Wait, so you’re telling me this is the new drama of the year? Somebody convince me before I waste 16 hours of my life. I mean, a girl who only wants to date handsome guys? That sounds like a recipe for chaos and comedy! But also, can we talk about how she went from dating a jerk to a whole roster of hot guys? I’m intrigued but also a little skeptical. Is it really gonna be worth the watch, or is it just another pretty face with no substance?

I think Ban Hee-jin’s story says a lot about how early bad experiences can shape the way someone approaches love. Her first boyfriend not only hurt her feelings but also embarrassed her in front of others. That is enough to make anyone cautious. Meeting four handsome men in such a short time might sound fun, but it also brings confusion. I like how each man is different in personality and lifestyle. Ji-Won is polite and rich but does not care about status. Jae-Yeol has ambition and talent, but there is tension because of the broken tablet. A-Rang feels like the safe, warm choice. Hyun-O could bring passion from his athletic energy. To me, the most important part is whether Bunny learns to judge men by their character instead of their looks. A beautiful face can hide an ugly heart, just like an average face can hide a beautiful soul. I am curious to see how she will decide.

For me, this sounds like another university romance that uses the same formula. One female lead, several good-looking male leads, each with different backgrounds, and the usual “who will she choose” setup. It can be fun if you like light romance, but I have seen this many times. The part about her deciding to only date handsome guys feels shallow. I understand why she feels that way after being hurt, but her logic is weak. Being attractive does not make someone a better partner. The show might be predictable, but I can see why people would enjoy it as something easy to watch after a long day.

I notice that many K-dramas mix comedy and romance in a way that focuses on light entertainment rather than realism. This one appears to follow that trend. The lead’s decision to only date handsome men is exaggerated for comedic effect, but it also touches on how some people use physical attraction as a way to avoid deeper emotional risk. Each male lead represents a different path, not just in romance but in lifestyle. For example, Ji-Won’s chaebol background could challenge her independence. Jae-Yeol’s artistic ambition might conflict with her own career. A-Rang’s kindness could be safe but maybe too safe. Hyun-O’s athletic life could offer excitement but also uncertainty. That makes me think the ending could be more about personal growth than the final couple.

Four handsome guys in one show? That is already enough reason for me to watch. I do not care if it is predictable. Sometimes I just want something light, with nice music and pretty faces.

When I was younger, I also made choices in love based on appearance. I believed if someone looked kind, they would be kind. That was not true. Watching Ban Hee-jin go through this reminds me of myself. I learned that trust, respect, and shared values matter more than looks. I hope the drama shows her realizing this before it ends. It would make her journey more meaningful.

The setup is fun because the men are not just background decorations. Ji-Won has a respectful personality, Jae-Yeol has ambition, A-Rang has warmth, and Hyun-O has energy. This means Bunny’s choice will not be simple. I like that the show also mentions her insecurities after her bad experience. That small detail makes her more relatable than if she was just a perfect heroine surrounded by admirers.

Honestly, Bunny’s decision to only date handsome guys makes me laugh. It is such a blunt statement, and I know it is not realistic, but in a rom-com world, it works. I enjoy dramas that exaggerate like this because it makes the awkward encounters and misunderstandings even funnier. I just hope they also show her learning that handsome is not always equal to good.

From what I see, this drama will not surprise anyone who watches a lot of K-dramas. It is the same setting, the same love triangle (or in this case, love square), and the same personality types. But that does not mean it is bad. There is a reason these tropes keep coming back—they are easy to enjoy. If you like the actors or want something simple, this could work.
