Cheaper by Dozen, The 3rd reboot takes on a blended family
Cheaper by Dozen is a modern reimagining of The Fox IP of the same title. Now that Disney owns Fox, Not only do they get to reclaim the X-men and Fantastic 4, They can also use all previous IPs owned by Fox.
The original film was from the 1950s and depicts a family with 12 children. Which is actually a norm back in the 1950s. My grandparents have lots of siblings while most couples these days have 1 to 2 children.
It is based on an autobiographical book of Journalist Frank Bunker Gilbreth Jr. Who grew up in a family of 12 siblings.
In 2003 it got a remake with the legendary Steve Martin. That film launched the careers of Tom Welling ,Hilary Duff and Alyson Stoner. The 2003 remake was successful enough to get a remake. After Disney’s acquisition of Fox, A reimagining was greenlit and here is the result.
Cheaper by Dozen (2022)
This remake won’t be based on a true story anymore as it is a reimagining. It will now depict the story of an interracial blended family. By comparison, this film has more similarities with The Brady Bunch, which is about a couple who will combine their families from previous marriages. It stars Zach Braff and Gabrielle Union as Paul and Zoey Baker. Aside from having Black and White children, There is also an Adopted Indian son to make the cast more diverse. Unlike the original that has 12 children, this reboot only has 10 but who knows the mother could get pregnant by the end of the film.
The older version of Cheaper by the Dozen is a depiction of full siblings growing up together. Now we get to see the perspective of step-siblings living together.
Here are the previous versions of the film
Cheaper by the Dozen will be exclusive to Disney+ this coming March 18, 2022.
