Super Mario Run has been in the headlines for the last few weeks. It rocketed to the top of the charts, but then slowly fell down as negative press and fan reviews began to weigh it down. While it’s still up there in the charts, and no doubt still making money, you have to wonder just how long it’ll stay up there.

Well, Nintendo may have a short term solution to that. As they revealed on Twitter that pre-orders for the Android version of the game are available now.

“Attn @Android users: Pre-Register now to be notified when the official #SuperMarioRun is available on @GooglePlay”

If you recall, the game was only available on iOS to start. Which perturbed all who didn’t have an iPhone. But, now the chance to get the game is possible. No date is attached to the pre-order page. But, like before, the first few levels of the game are available for free download. We recommend you do that before playing the full game for $10.

Now, there’s no doubt in my mind that it’ll rocket up to the charts again. If for no other reason than the good and bad press will make gamers take a chance to see where they fall on the spectrum. But will it last? Or will it peter out like with iOS? Only time, and money, will tell.

  1. The thing about Android is that it is easy to just get the apk file of a game and install it yourself so that you don't have to pay for the game. In this case the $10 seems like such a premium price that I don't think the majority of people will be paying for the game. Whereas with iOS it's difficult to install games from other sources, most people will just pay the price
