Wonder Woman 2 To Be “Totally Different”
With a doubt, one of the biggest hits of the year was Wonder Woman. It proved that not only could the DC Comics film universe have a critical hit (92% on Rotten Tomatoes) but also, that a female-led superhero film could make lots of money at the box office ($820 million). With both of those happening, it’s no wonder why Wonder Woman 2 was greenlit so quickly, and set for a November 2019 release. But the question now becomes, what will the sequel be about?
Well, there’s been a lot of rumors, including the film taking place during the Cold War. Patty Jenkins has hinted at what the film will be like, but in an interview with ET Canada, she’s teased even more.
“We’re actually making a totally different film with a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it’s its own movie completely, so it’s not ‘two’ to us,” she explained. “It’s an entirely new adventure together that we couldn’t be luckier [to do].”
Oh, and for any of you hoping that the original live-action Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, will appear in Wonder Woman 2? They are trying.
“Lynda is one of the dearest people to us, has been a great mentor and dear friend. And we actually desperately tried to get her in the first one and we had the scheduling that couldn’t work, so she’s always been a part of our Wonder Woman family,” she shared. “We won’t say anything yet, but we certainly — there’s no lack of trying.”
