We Won't Get Arwing Amiibo
During the recent Nintendo Direct, the company revealed that Star Fox Zero would be releasing April 22nd, which came as a relief for fans as the title had been delayed many times.
However, many were wondering whether a brand new Amiibo, the popular figurines from Nintendo, would be released alongside the game. As it turns out, there was meant to be an Arwing Amiibo, but it had to be scrapped due to safety concerns. Producer, and gaming legend, Shigeru Miyamoto told IGN about it:
“Unfortunately, we won’t be releasing an Arwing amiibo,” Miyamoto said in a translated interview. “We did have a few prototypes. There was an Arwing amiibo that transforms into the Walker, but we weren’t able to turn that into a product that could meet safety guidelines for children.”
Miyamoto does note though, it could come back in the future:
“We had to give up on that idea, but maybe we’ll do something with it in the future. Who knows,” Miyamoto said.
While the Arwing is not coming, there are still many Smash Bros. Amiibo on the way, and newly announced Kirby Amiibo as well. So collectors will still have a lot to look forward to.
Star Fox Zero launches on Wii U April 22nd.

Why does it need to transform? Why can't it just say stationary like all the others? That makes no sense.

I think it's more of the shape of the Arwing in general. All the pointd edge that we honestly don't have on the other Amiibo's with a few exceptions. More danger for young kids with all those points

Plenty of other Amiibo have pointed edges though.
