I disagree with the assertion at around 38 minue mark that the ending is a “corporate” ending.
From EA’s point of view, such an ending makes no sense…EA is all about the IP (and given the advertising and pre-order shenanigans, one that EA would consider important).
The ME IP was coming off of ME2, which won multiple game of the year awards and did very well in sales. When the IP is in such a strong position, corporate is more likely to “keep everything the same”.
Only if the IP is suffering a slow decline a la Star Trek, do you see corporate look to “reimagine” the setting.
The ending (and the beginning for the matter) definitely struck me as rushed AND for the ending, an “artistic” vision instead of a “corporate” vision

I agree with this. It just doesn’t make sense to me to end the game as they did.
And also thank you for taking your time to listen to our Podcast. It’s much appreciated.

Look what Casey Hudson has to say about it all.

I like your podcast, it’s nice to hear people discuss all sides of an issue without resorting to flaming. I personally have held out for the indoctrination theory, since it appears to be the only way to explain this mess without retconning it. But it would still upset me if this were true, for another reason entirely. It would mean that the complete game wasn’t included in my purchase when I walked out of the store with it. The proper way to include such a con into the game, is to IMMEDIATELY CONTINUE the story after Shepard wakes up, and continue it to resolution.
This is why I think the ending just sucks, rather than is incomplete, because it makes no sense to not include the resolution with the conflict.

Robert put sedatives in my coffee before the podcast. He was afraid I might misbehave and go off on a profanity laced rant. But we’re all glad you liked the cast and we plan on doing one each week.

One word to describe the ending: counterproductive

Yeah, I sort’ve left it off on a major buzzkill note. I’ll try to take my happy pills next time. Glad you folks enjoyed the podcast and have some opinions on it. We plan to do a new one every week from now on and I’m pretty sure we’re gonna see about taking questions and potential topics in the future. Stay tuned.

Great review of the ME3. It was nice to here all sides. The ending was horrible, and you guys even caught some plot holes I missed. I think you guys hit it right on as to what so many fans of the franchise are angry, and disappointed. I also have to say that it seems games in recent years arrive at launch in what I like to call beta series ready, and normally they patch the heck out of them over weeks and even months.
For PC anyway ME3 seemed pretty solid and polished as far as gameplay., story, and lack of bugs for 99% of the game, which led me to believe the horrible ending was no accident but intended. I’m one of those that started losing faith in Bioware after the DA2 disappointment, and then the tacky 1st day DLC, and now the ending of ME3 is the last straw. we pay for a commercial interactive product with art elements, and certain promises were made as to what features it would have and they were missing from the final product.
I have written some reviews on the BSN forum in my Blog, if you are interested look me up my name there is darkshadow136
Great listen guys.
