We don’t get nearly as many action platformers based around new movies as we used to — considering the quality of most of those, some would consider that a good thing. But publisher Outright Games and development studio PHL are going to try giving it another go. They’ve made a deal with MGM to create a 3D action game based on the Addams Family, just in time for their next movie in October — a sequel to the animated flick from a couple years prior.
In The Addams Family: Monster Mayhem you can play as Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday and Pugsley — all at the same time. The game will support co-op for up to four players. They’re fighting to save their mansion home from a sinister new invader. Each character will come with their own special abilities: Gomez has a saber to rattle and Wednesday can command her pet octopus to attack.

The Addams Family have been in plenty of games, going back to Fester’s Quest on the original NES. Yet they haven’t been the stars of a console game for twenty years — the last one was released in 2001. They don’t stay dead forever, though. The Addams Family: Monster Mayhem will be out October 2021 on Playstation, Nintendo Switch, XBox and PC.
