2026 Australian Screen Music Awards

Australian Screen Music Awards Nomiees for 2026

The AGSC released its 2026 Australian Screen Music Awards nominations for basically all fourteen categories. They also said the ceremony will take place on October 28, 2026, at the Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane, Australia.

So, keep reading to learn about the nominees and their respective categories.

2026 Australian Screen Music Awards Nominations Released

All in all, one of the joys of being a soundtrack music blogger is learning about all the strange awards out there. Basically, every aspect of the entertainment industry has a music awards show. And it still amazes me how often grown adults give each other trophies for just doing their jobs.

For instance, the 2026 Australian Screen Music Awards are coming up. I was going to skip them, but knowing who our friends down under think were this year’s best soundtracks intrigued my interest.

What are the Australian Screen Music Awards?

Please note that these Australian Screen Music Awards are not related to the ASCAP Screen Music Awards we have here in the States. We must wait until April next year for those.

No, this Screen Music Awards show is basically the brainchild of:

  • The Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA)
  • Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS)
  • And the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC).

Consequently, it celebrates the excellence and innovation in the Australian soundtrack music scene. That’s regardless of whether it’s from film, TV, documentaries, advertising, children’s programming, video games, or any other media.

The 2026 Australian Screen Music Awards Ceremony

The next Australian Screen Music Awards ceremony is on October 28, 2026, 5.30 pm Brisbane Time, as I have said. Rob Collins will host the event at the Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane, while Claudia Karvan OAM and Ayesha Madon will serve as guest presenters.

The ceremony will also award trophies in fourteen categories, chosen by panels of Australian soundtrack composers. There will also be a single lifetime achievement award, the Distinguished Services to the Australian Screen, which the APRA board of directors will announce in two weeks, on October 13.

Meet the Nominees

Now that said, Antony Partos, Josh Hogan and Ned Beckley grabbed most of the 2026 Australian Screen Music Awards nominations, with four each. For instance, Partos is up for Best Documentary Music for Edge of Life, and Best TV Drama Soundtrack for The Artful Dodger. He’s also up for Best Soundtrack Album and Best Feature Soundtrack Score.

Meanwhile, Hogan and Beckley are nominated together for their work on the children’s TV show Tales from Outer Suburbia. Of course, that means that Outer Suburbia got at least four nominations itself.

Then, there are Adam Gock, Dinesh Wicks and Mitch Stewart, each of whom received three nominations. For instance, they’re competing for both Most Performed Screen Composer categories for their work for Lego Masters, MasterChef, and My Kitchen Rules. They’re also running for Best Reality TV Soundtrack for Million-Dollar Secret.

And finally, William Barton is up for Best Song with the track “The Spirit Shall Return” from Mystery Road: Origin. Then, there’s Caitlin Yeo with the track “We Got Away with It” from He Had It Coming.

I'm really thrilled to see nominees like The Nightingale getting recognized! The score had such a haunting quality that perfectly complemented the film's atmosphere. It's awesome to see diverse storytelling in Australian cinema being celebrated through music.
