Temple Run Monkey

Temple Run Now Available in VR

I’ve played more hours of Temple Run, the endless runner for phones and tablets, than can possibly be healthy. Imangi Studio’s Temple Run and Temple Run Two, still the best in the endless runner genre, have you forever running through a gauntlet of deadly obstacles, and there’s always been one terrifying thought that kept moving forward.

“Can’t stop, evil demon monkeys will get me!”

The simians that chases your character in Temple Run are now even more terrifying, and literally in your face, in a new virtual reality version out today.

The virtual reality version is for the Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition. It’s a headset, based on Oculus Rift technology, that you place your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in to create a VR Experience. Hopefully the new version won’t be exclusive to this device, because obviously being limited to one smartphone is going to limit opportunities to play it.

“We’re thrilled to see this new virtual reality technology in the hands of consumers, and are inspired by the potential for new game experiences,” said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios. “It’s been a pleasure working with Samsung and Oculus to bring Temple Run VR to life, and we can’t wait to see what players think of the chase.”

The new version is not just Temple Run slapped on another device. It has a new look and a new snowy mountainous setting. It’s free to download, so check on your Galaxy Note 4, if you have one of those.
