Super Smash Bros. Creator Working on New Game
It looks like game developer Masahiro Sakurai, creator of Super Smash Bros. and Kirby’s Dreamland, is working on a new game project. What new project that could be is a complete mystery. This is from a translation by Source Gaming of Sakurai’s Weekly Famitsu column. You can check out the tweets on the subject below.
It’s completely unknown what the game could be. One would hope that it could be a new Super Smash Bros. game for Nintendo’s next console, the Nintendo Switch. Sakurai reportedly confirmed that he’s working on a new game, and he also looked around the development room, noting that there weren’t a lot of people there who have previously developed game projects for the Famicom (NES). Sakurai noted that “he’s getting older.”
PVPLive reports that a new Super Smash Bros. game for the Nintendo Switch is rumored for a 2017 release. So, it could be that game, or it could be another Kirby game. Or, it could very well be something completely different, such as Kid Icarus. Either way, hopefully it will be an awesome game from Sakurai.
The Nintendo Switch console is due out in spring 2017. Nintendo is planning a major reveal event for the console in January 2017.
