Skybound Announces Creepshow Card Game

Skybound Tabletop, a division of Skybound Entertainment, is now working on a playable version of their comic book anthology Creepshow. The comic in question is based on the TV series on Shudder, which was itself inspired by Golden Age horror comics, bringing everything full circle. Point is, if you’ve ever wanted a card game based on such horror comics (and who doesn’t), one is on the way.

Welcome to Creepshow, a wicked story-building game where players become Creeps and weave twisted tales where dastardly deviants meet well-earned demises. You’ll need strategy and cunning for this game, and to know when to push your luck because deception could be waiting at every turn.  Creeps create chains of story cards and secretly fill them with Suspense. At key moments in the story, when tension is highest, Creeps can bet on the amount of Suspense to score big. But beware of other Creeps sabotaging the story, you just may lose your head! 

Creepshow: The Suspense Building Game comes in a box with 54 Story Cards, 9 Ending Cards, 34 Double Sided Point Tokens, and 5 Reference Cards. The game was designed by Ben Kepner and Dan Strong, with artwork lifted from the pages of the comic book anthology.

Here’s where we would tell you about the Kickstarter, but there isn’t one. Creepshow: The Suspense Building Game is going straight to stores, and will launch this fall for $19.99.

Ooh, a story-building horror game with a cool theme? Sign me up! The "push your luck" mechanic with the Suspense cards sounds intriguing, especially since it adds a layer of player interaction and potential betrayal. Plus, at $19.99, the price point seems pretty sweet. Gotta check out some gameplay videos to see how it stacks up against other storytelling games in my collection.

Finally, a card game that captures the spirit of classic horror comics! I'm all about that Golden Age horror vibe, and Creepshow always delivered with its anthology format. This sounds like a great way to get a group of friends together and tell some messed-up stories, with a bit of friendly competition thrown in. This game seems to offer a good mix of strategy and storytelling, which I appreciate. The deception element with the Suspense cards adds a layer of complexity that could make for some really interesting plays. Definitely need to learn more about the point system and how the Ending Cards work, but overall this sounds like a game that could offer a lot of replayability for strategic gamers who enjoy a bit of narrative flair.

Oh man, Creepshow takes me back! Used to love watching it with my older brother when we were kids. A card game based on the series sounds like a great way to relive some of those nostalgic chills. Building spooky stories with friends sounds like a fun way to pay homage to the classic horror comics that inspired the series.
