Ten years ago Direwolf Games introduced Clank! A Deck-building Adventure to the tabletop market. The game was enough of a success that it’s coming back new and improved in the form of Clank! Master Thief Edition.
This new version of the game doesn’t just come in shinier packaging. It’s a revised form of the game with bigger, better dungeons. To make room for them, the Rage Track, Health Track, and Market have also migrated to their own separate boards. These boards will be built with double thick cardboard and inset squares so the game’s cubes are more organized. As for gameplay differences, Direwolf is teasing updated endgame mechanics, new Ghosts, and various card adjustments, but won’t be going into details until the public unveiling.
Ten years of Clank! means ten years of stories and shenanigans from your tabletop heists: those tight escapes with multiple artifacts, the sessions with a very grumpy dragon that devoured your party on round 4, the time your friend swore revenge after you plucked their intended Artifact from under their noses with a 7 Boot movement… the Clank! Master Thief Edition lays a foundation for many more memories to come.
The new edition will also come with an expansion the day of release:Wandering Monsters, which will include new cards and mechanics related to the tunnel monsters on the board. The expansion — which is optional — marks them with different colors and icons. As for what those colors and icons do, that info is classified for now.
But those classified files are expected to be opened at Gen Con in Indianapolis, where Direwolf will be holding previews and demonstrations of Clank! Master Thief Edition as well as selling early copies. Gen Con event registration opens on May 17.
