Shovel Knight’s Battletoads Encounter In Full
While Kratos and the Battletoads are unlocked in pretty much the same way (see the video at the bottom of the article for a tutorial on how to get them to appear and where to find them), they differ in some important ways. Firstly, Kratos is a roaming character who will travel round the map whereas the Battletoads have their own location in the world that acts as a hub after you have defeated them.
But more importantly though, their battle is so much better and more interesting that the PlayStation offering. Kratos is a pretty cool fight but the whole experience can be over in just a few minutes. The Battletoads encounter lasts for around 10 minutes and has multiple stages that challenge you in very different ways.
Not only do you have to fight Rash, Zitz and Pimple but you also get to take part in some of the classic elements that made up the original game, including the infamous bike racing segment. Don’t worry though as the Battletoads are not your enemy, instead they are simply trying to train you up to help the Shovel Knight on his battle against the Dark Queen. Once completed you’ll also get to use a special set of armor that has some unique characteristics.
Unlocking the Battletoads is fairly simple if you have already completed the Hall of Champions. You just have to go back to that location and travel to the far right of the chamber until you come hit the wall. Digging down will unlock a tunnel to a token that reveals where the new characters are hanging out. Check out the video below for a visual aid.
