Ronda Rousey Wants To Be Samus Aran In Metroid Film

Video game movies are nothing new, successful ones are more rare though. However, with certain successes, it could be a more viable brand. One of the few Nintendo franchises that fans truly think could work as a movie is Metroid. And MMA superstar Ronda Rousey has made it clear she wants to be the legendary bounty hunter Samus Aran.

“I’ve always wanted to be Samus. That would be badass.” Rousey told Gamespot in an interview, “I love how people found out later that it was a hot chck on the inside. And then most of the day you’re in a suit, so you can just hang out and eat donuts and be the star of Metroid. I hope they make a movie out of that.”

This is not the first time a Metroid movie has been discussed by people, in fact, one group tried to make a mini-Metroid film a few years back via funding on Kickstarter. Nintendo however stepped in and squashed it before it came to form.

However, given the recent direction of Nintendo to want to “expand their brand” and rumors of a Legend of Zelda series coming to Netflix, it may not be in the realm of impossibility that Metroid could come to a theater near you some day.
