Vertigo Announces 100 Bullets: The US of Anger

Earlier this year DC relaunched their Vertigo line with some new and returning titles. Most were new, since many of their old standbys were unavailable for one reason or another — Willingham hates them now, Gaiman will never work again. But there are some familiar books coming back…like 100 Bullets, the violent crime comic by the multi-Eisner Award-winning team of Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso.

A new eight-issue story is now in the works for a July 1 launch. You might note that’s days before America’s 250th birthday. It’s timed intentionally; the book is called 100 Bullets: The US of Anger and it’s about central character Lono returning to his home country to deal with modern annoyances. Fed up with arrogance, greed, misinformation and stupidity? It all meets his fists. You may find this latest story very therapeutic, and we’re sure it was equally as therapeutic to write.

“Lono isn’t back to make peace. He’s back to make trouble. Lono is home again, and he’s hunting through a landscape of good ol’ boys and militias, megachurches, millionaires, and madmen,” says Vertigo. “In Brother Lono, the titular character tried and failed to save his own soul. In The US of Anger, he becomes something far more dangerous: a catalyst for the demons already lurking in America’s shadow.” Note: this is a work of escapism, and you should not consider violence and vigilantism as solutions to your problems.

100 Bullets: The US of Anger #1 will be a 40-page book for $3.99, with $4.99 cardstock variants.
