One of the beautiful things about video games is that they can be used to twist the stereotypes our culture is sometimes fond of. Take for example the numerous tales of princes saving “damsels in distress.” Well, now there’s a game where the script is flipped, and it’s the prince who needs saving. This is what you can expect from PrinceNapped, a free-to-play puzzle that has just arrived on iOS.
In the game, you’ll play as Clara, a brave bounty huntress, and have to help Prince Edwin get to safety by solving puzzles and completing certain objectives as you go throughout the levels.
“Most of the games we play have strong male protagonists. When we started making PrinceNapped, we wanted to do something different that would make women feel like they were powerful,” said Molly Proffitt, CEO and Lead Gameplay Designer at Ker-Chunk Games. “We stuck to our vision and we made it a reality. It is our goal that we can start to change the way people perceive women as players. We hope that with more games featuring strong female characters, we can make a difference and give a voice to women everywhere.”
Here’s some of the things you can expect from the game:
Solve 75 hand-crafted puzzles with unique objectives
Manipulate more than 750 pieces to solve puzzles
Immerse yourself in a beautiful fantasy puzzle world
Enhance your puzzle solving abilities with special powers
Collect amulets to aid your adventure
Compete with your friends for a spot on the leaderboards
