Apple has released a single for the song “Ice Water” from their Camp Snoopy animated series. They also released a music video for the two-minute track, which serves as a trailer for the show’s currently airing second season.
Keep reading to learn more about the song and its music video, as well as where you can find them.
Mayer Hawthorne’s “Ice Water” Brings Cool Soul to Apple TV’s Camp Snoopy
The Peanuts Gang never disappoints. So, when Apple TV announced they had a new animated Snoopy show called Camp Snoopy, I already knew it had to be good in both sound and animation. And it seems that was the case since the show just launched its second season. They also released a single for the song “Ice Water” to celebrate the occasion.
Released on July 24, 2026, Mayer Hawthorne’s “Ice Water” is basically about Snoopy’s alter ego, Joe Cool. It’s also a semi-diegetic track, which first premiered in the tenth episode of the show’s second season.
Musically, it’s what you might expect from the Peanuts franchise. That’s because it’s bright, playful, crisp around the edges, and tailor-made for kids and their families. It’s also short, coming in at a tight 2 minutes and 23 seconds. That’s long enough to deliver its mood, hook, and showtune energy while still being short enough to retain children’s attention.
And now, you can listen to it whenever you want. All because Apple and Peanuts Worldwide released it digitally as a single. And therefore, you should be able to find it on your favorite music app and then some.
What Is Camp Snoopy About?
As I have said above, Camp Snoopy is an animated series that’s currently airing on the Apple TV streaming service. It follows Snoopy, Woodstock, and the Beagle Scouts on their great outdoors adventures with Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang at the Camp Spring Lake summer camp.
As a result, the story arcs mainly center around the characters:
- Hiking,
- Swimming,
- Searching for badges,
- Tackling small wilderness challenges
- Turning everyday camp activities into gentle comic set pieces.
The show’s currently in its second season, which began last month. Doing so, it added stories about carefree camp life, nature quests, sandcastles, and classic Peanuts-style debates to the mix.
In other words, the show’s just the Peanuts Gang doing Peanuts Gang things.
How “Ice Water” Perfectly Matches That Camp Snoopy Vibe
And “Ice Water” exemplifies that perfectly, and it’s because it truly understands the Peanuts’ world.
You see Camp Snoopy is built around a very specific kind of atmosphere. That atmosphere is, of course, that classic outdoorsy adventure, gentle comedy, childhood ritual, and timeless expressiveness we love and expect from Snoopy and his friends.
In other words, the show doesn’t need loud, in-your-face music. Instead, it simply needs something that can bounce along with it.
Mayer Hawthorne Gives Camp Snoopy an Ice Water Pop-Soul Glow
And that’s where Hawthorne’s pop-soul instincts come into play. His vocal style carries a vintage warmth that has roots in classic R&B, funk, and breezy West Coast pop.
As a result, he was perfectly suited for the showtune sounds of the Peanuts universe. And it’s because of him that “Ice Water” feels nostalgic without being dusty, playful without being disposable, and polished without losing that handmade summer-camp feel.
However, the song isn’t just Hawthorne. It’s a call-and-response duet between him and a chorus of children. Luckily, his voice plays off the kids nicely, creating a feeling that you could just sing along with them.
Then, There’s the Music Video
Speaking of that, Apple and Wild Brain thought so, too. As a result, they also released a singalong music video along with the single.
The music video is, of course, just a clip from the episode. But it perfectly exemplifies the show as a whole. And thus, it works as a good introduction to it.
And it all starts with “Ice Water” title, which suggests refreshment, calm, and a little bit of swagger. In other words, it’s everything Snoopy thinks he is.
The video shows his total confidence by having him walk casually through the camp alongside a troop of Beagle Scouts. Wearing his Joe Cool sunglasses, he radiates his main-character energy along the way, all the while making everyone else do the hard work.
Meanwhile, the song praises this nonchalant attitude, repeatedly expressing how cool he is. And it all ends with Snoopy and the birds literally playing the song with acoustic guitars, drums, and Snoopy on the trumpet.
It’s quite the spectacle indeed. And you can enjoy it yourself by watching it below.
Camp Snoopy Season 2 and the Soundtrack
As I have said above, the “Ice Water” music video serves as a trailer for the currently playing Season 2. And as a result, it comes with a few speculations.
Firstly, it’s clear that Camp Snoopy is popular enough for Apple to give it a second season. We wouldn’t be here talking about the song if that wasn’t the case. So, we can expect to see the series continue for at least another year or two.
Secondly, there’s a possibility for a soundtrack release. That’s because, as of right now, there is no soundtrack album for the show. All we have is “Ice Water” at the moment.
However, the show’s continued success may make Apple reconsider that decision. The success of the single would help with that, too, of course. But just the fact that it even exists is promising. That’s because it suggests the music won’t be seen as an afterthought going forward.
So, it’s a good thing that Apple and Peanuts released the “Ice Water” single and music video. That’s because this release can introduce the show to new fans who otherwise wouldn’t have an Apple TV account. It also captures the hearts and minds of its young viewers who would eventually rope their families into it as well.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, Apple and Peanuts have a gem on their hands with the Camp Snoopy “Ice Water” single. It’s unlikely to be music of a radio hit, but it fits perfectly alongside other, more classic, Peanuts tunes. And that’s all that matters in the end.
But that’s just my take. What’s yours?
