Pamela Anderson got humanized on the second trailer of Pam and Tommy
Pamela Anderson doesn’t give her approval for the TV show Pam and Tommy. Most likely because it’s a chapter in her life she wanted to forget. A sex tape may have launched the careers of Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton, but it has an opposite effect on her. In the 90s, Pamela Anderson was more than a sex symbol, She was America’s Sweetheart despite being Canadian.
Her character CJ was a fan favorite on the iconic 90s tv juggernaut, Baywatch. The First trailer focused on the people who stole the private sex tape on a vault. This second trailer shows how slut shaming have a double standards.
Pam and Tommy Trailer 2
Lily James transformed into the 90s Bombshell because she captured all of Pam’s mannerisms and essence. It is hard to imagine this is the same actress that played Cinderella 7 years ago! She committed to the role that the transformation made her unrecognizable. You know an actor is great if they transformed to the point they become unrecognizable. I can’t see any shades of Lily James on her scenes as the 90s icon.
The second trailer captured the vulnerability of a woman who did no wrong but got judged by the society. That sex tape is between two consenting adults who were a married couple. That sex tape was never intended for a public viewing.
“I’m on that tape just the same as you,”
That is a line said by Sebastian Stan‘s Tommy Lee. He is a rockstar, a member of the rock band, Mötley Crüe. It work as an advantage for him image because of societal double standards. Robert Siegel, the showrunner of the show is no stranger to biopics. He is the man behind The Founder, which is about the man founded Mcdonald’s. It is also directed by Craig Gillespie, The director who made I, Tonya. A film that managed to make a sympathetic figure out of Tonya Harding.
