New Xbox One Dashboard Update Rolling Out Today
The brand new and highly anticipated update for the Xbox One is rolling out today. Users can download it by heading over to the settings sections and checking for updates, prompting the console to download the 1.15GB patch.
Microsoft have built the new dashboard around Windows 10, which should allow for a more consistent look throughout and allow for more compatibility between the console and desktop PCs in the future. The Xbox team is also confident that the new experience should provide a number of performance improvements, making navigating and accessing things like your Friend’s List and Achievements quicker and easier than ever before. This is backed up by a new user interface that makes finding the content you want more intuitive.
Most important is the addition of backwards compatibility though. 104 individual Xbox 360 games will be ready to play straight away, while Microsoft has promised that more will be added over the coming weeks and months. Any games you have previously bought on the store will automatically be added to your library and each month’s Games With Gold offerings will all be backwards compatible.
There are a few other additions in the new update as well. This includes an expanded Game Hub to condense all the information for a title into one handy space, a Social Hub so you can keep up to date with everything your friends are doing and a new design for the Xbox Store to make games and apps easier to find.
