- Memorable Quote: “Marry me.”
SUMMARY: I look like a harmless kindergarten teacher, but I’m actually a bodyguard turned heiress trying to survive my evil stepchildren. A backwards Cinderella story.
♦ Is There Anything I Can Do For You?
In “Ms. Incognito”, Kim Young-Ran lives in a small town of about 15,000 people and works as a kindergarten teacher under the name Bu Se-Mi. She must keep her true identity hidden for 3 months or her evil stepchildren will kill her just like they killed their stepsister. It’s an ugly story. As if the story of her childhood isn’t ugly enough. Kim Young-Ran had an abusive father and a mother who never wanted to be her mother. She spent 6 months in prison for shoplifting when she was a teenager. Because she has a criminal record, it’s very hard for her to find a good-paying job. She struggles for every penny she makes, and then her mother takes her money and squanders it. But finally, her life has changed for the better. At least, that’s what she thinks.
A wealthy chairman of a food corporation hired her to be his bodyguard. Kim Young-Ran’s living quarters are very nice compared to the apartment she lived in, even though she has to share a room. Her roommate is much better company than her mother. Her boss seems to be very nice, and she gained his trust almost instantly. It wasn’t long before she realized that his stepchildren were trying to kill him. While they were scheming and conniving to get his money, he was also making plans to get revenge for the murder of his biological daughter, their stepsister. They already killed his daughter, and now they were after him.
The thing is, they don’t need to kill him. He’s terminally ill and will likely be dead in about 3 to 6 months. So he asked Kim Young-Ran for a favor. “Marry me.” WHAT??!!!
♦ A Marriage Proposal?
Kim Young-Ran was not expecting that. When she asked the chairman if there was anything she could do for him, she wasn’t expecting a marriage proposal. Initially, she declined and said she would leave the job as a bodyguard. But then her mother called, asking for money. After all, she’s got a good-paying job now. Surely, she must have money she can give to her dear old mom. Kim Young-Ran hung up the phone and went back to the chairman’s room and said, “Yes. I’ll marry you.” That made the chairman very happy. Now he could put his revenge plan in action.
This major unexpected change in her life also made Kim Young-Ran happy. It’s very different being the madam and the heiress to a great fortune. For one thing, you now have people working FOR YOU, who can take care of a nuisance like your own mother. They have ways of persuading her mother to … STOP being a nuisance. However, handling her stepchildren is NOT going to be a walk in the park. They’ve already proven they’re capable of murder.
Kim Young-Ran understands that she’s treading a dangerous path. But in the short period of time she spent with the chairman, he had treated her kinder than her own parents ever did. It wasn’t just the fact that she would inherit a tremendous amount of wealth. His stepchildren murdered an innocent young woman, sullied her reputation, and intended to kill their stepfather, an innocent man. It’s only right for her to help him get justice.
