Marvel Entertainment revealed this week a special initiative to go along with the launch of the new comic series U.S.Avengers. The House of Ideas plans to launch the series with over 50 unique variant covers assigning one Avenger to each state.
For example, the Maryland cover will feature Sam Wilson. Iron Man will be featured on the California cover. Black Widow will be in Connecticut. Spectrum will be over Louisiana, and more variants will be revealed soon. You can check out some sample artwork for the variant covers in the gallery below. Speaking on the news, Marvel’s David Gabriel stated: “Marvel’s U.S.AVENGERS State Variants are a chance for our fans and retailers to show their home town patriotism paired with some of the biggest Avengers from the Marvel Universe. We knew that a series with the name U.S.AVENGERS would evoke a sense of honor with all of our fans and we really wanted to go that extra step and offer a variant campaign that would allow our readers to show their hometown pride across this great nation – even our neighbors Canada and Puerto Rico! Expect their own variants as well.”
The new book is being written by Al Ewing, with artwork by Paco Medina. The State variant cover art was drawn by artist Rod Reis.
