Alien Vs X-Men Hits Comic Shops In September

Before the Star Wars crew and the Marvel Universe unite, Marvel Comics will be staging a different kind of inter-company crossover with Alien Vs X-Men. The first installment in the four-issue miniseries is scheduled to be released this fall.

Three preview pages with no dialogue were released from Marvel, and they don’t suggest anything radical on the Alien side of things. This is a story that’s been told before, just with non-mutants in the lead roles. The team discovers a crashed ship, and inside, lots of Xenomorph eggs. It also appears some of them have hatched already and taken prisoners, including…Wolverine? We don’t buy it. There are three big reasons who Wolverine would be the clear winner of this kind of fight (six if you count his other hand), they go “SNIKT” and they’re virtually indestructible. One of the covers actually shows Wolvie getting partially dissolved by Xeno acid, which is the kind of graphic thing you could only do with a character that super-heals.

But according to writer Kieron Gillen, who has written plenty of X-Men stories before, the “Ripley” of this tale is actually Storm, who is not focused on in the preview pages or any of the covers. Anyone else can be snuffed out at any time, as this is a non-canon story. We can try to guess why Ororo survives but…it’s kinda obvious. How the Xenos gain the upper hand against Logan, though…your guess is as good as mine.

Alien Vs X-Men will be written by Gillen and ilustrated by Geraldo Borges, with a backup story in each issue by Chris Claremont. The first issue will be released September 16.

This crossover sounds absolutely wild! I've always been a fan of mashups, especially when they mix genres. The X-Men have this rich lore and complex characters, so throwing them into the Alien universe is bound to create some intense moments. I can just imagine the first time an X-Men member faces off with a Xenomorph!

I love the idea of seeing how the X-Men's powers could interact with the terrifying nature of Aliens. Imagine Wolverine's healing factor going toe-to-toe with the relentless brood of Xenomorphs! I'm also curious about who's writing this. A good creative team could make all the difference in capturing the essence of both franchises. Do you think they'll lean more into the horror aspect or the superhero action? I'm hoping for a balance of both!
