Jackman Almost Quit After Wolverine Origins
Certain actors or actresses are always going to be attached to certain roles. For Hugh Jackman, that is the role of Logan, aka the Wolverine. He’s been numerous movies as the character, and it’s hard to imagine Wolverine without him. Yet, after the biggest failure of the series, he considered quitting.
After the original X-Men movie trilogy, a spinoff was made called Wolverine: Origins, that showed definitively how Logan became the Wolverine. However, the movie was panned by both fans and critics, and even Jackman wasn’t happy with what happened, and thus, he considered quitting.
“I couldn’t see what the next thing was,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I don’t know what else to do. I don’t know where to go.”
“I knew people liked the character. Not all the fans like that first ‘Wolverine,’” he continued. “They’re very vocal with me. Good or bad, they tell me. It’s kind of a family I have. ‘What were you thinking?! I love you, man, but that was …’”
Thankfully for all, he came back, and made a more true comic book movie in The Wolverine, then helped sustain the new X-Men saga via Days of Future Past. And of course, the movie Logan, which is getting rave reviews from fans and critics alike, and could break box office records this weekend.
That just goes to show you, a flop doesn’t have to define you if you don’t let it.
