Is The Next Metroid Game Coming To Nintendo's NX?
When it comes to Nintendo, the gaming giant has a lot of franchises to pick and choose from in regards to making games. Look at Super Smash Bros. and you’ll see what I mean. However, that doesn’t mean that every property gets its fair share in the sun. Ever since Other M (aka the Metroid game that fans don’t like to talk about), Nintendo fanboys and fangirls have been wanting, waiting, and praying for a new full-on Metroid title. At the Nintendo E3 Digital Event, we got a spinoff in the form of Metroid Prime: Federation Force. Needless to say, this didn’t please fans at all. Just look at the like/dislike ratio on the trailers Youtube page. It’s ugly.
Now more than ever, fans want a true Metroid title, and series Producer Kensuke Tanabe has stated it could happen, but if it did, it would on Nintendo’s NX and not the Wii U. “If we started for Wii U now, it would likely take three years or so. So it would likely now be on Nintendo’s NX console,” said series producer Kensuke Tanabe, speaking to Eurogamer
Tanabe went on to note he has ideas for a new Metroid game, but, there’s been complications as to getting it made:
“It is a great idea, I agree. Truth be told, making HD games takes a lot of time and resources,” Tanabe concluded when asked why Nintendo had not made a Metroid Prime for Wii U. “I haven’t been able to collect a team or the resources to do it.”
So, will it happen? Time will tell.
